Mini Bazaar Ramadan At FamilyMart!

Assalamualaikum and hello everyone!

Another day in Ramadan, how's your fasting days gone by? Mine has been pretty smooth, Alhamdulillah. But I have to admit, one of the problems that I have during ramadan is 'What To Cook' for buka puasa. The first week is fine, the problem would only appear in the second week because I've ran out of ideas. I know women out there (especially wives and mommies) will be scratching their heads figuring out what to cook.

Well, I'm here to help you incase you are in that 'tak tahu nak masak apa' mood. Have you ever thought about buying food at a convenient store? Well to be honest, I am skeptical about the quality and how it would taste. I always imagine convenient store food would be tasteless, dry and so on. Boy I was wrong!

Last week I've gotten the opportunity to buka puasa with FamilyMart and at the same time I got to taste their new hot meals especially dedicated for the month of Ramadan. FamilyMart understands how people rush from work to home for buka puasa, therefore they introduced a selection of pre-packed food that customers can just reheat in the microwave once they reach home. This kind of pre-packed meal is absolutely helpful for those who are not able to go to bazaar Ramadan or a great way to add on another dish on the table. These ready-to-eat food is cooked fresh daily from a halal kitchen so you won't be getting any leftover food in the store. Another plus point for FamilyMart is that, they have seating area in each store so you can eat comfortably.

Okay, now let's take a look at the new menu for Ramadan!

 NASI PUTIH (RM2.20 each)
A fragrant and fluffy white rice, a must to accompany the dishes.

♥ NASI PULUT KUNING (RM3.50 each)
Glutinous rice cooked with coconut milk and turmeric. This is the perfect pair with Ayam Rendang!

♥ NASI IMPIT (RM3.50 each)
A traditional food during Eid. It is usually eaten with kuah kacang (peanut sauce) but you can pair it with FamilyMart Kuah Lodeh!

♥ LEMANG (RM4.00 each)
Lemang is made of glutinous rice, coconut milk and salt. Best served with Ayam Rendang! FamilyMart will be selling the lemang until the month of Eid, so do get your lemang fix here if you don't know where else to get it! ;)

♥ KARI AYAM (RM5.90 each)
Aromatic chicken curry with chunks of potatoes. Not too spicy and the chicken is cooked nicely.

♥ AYAM KAPITAN (RM5.90 each)
A classic Nyonya chicken dish with the influence of Malay and Chinese heritage. It taste almost similar to the chicken curry but the texture is thicker and slightly spicier.

♥ AYAM MASAK MERAH (RM5.90 each)
A spicy chicken dish that would go so well with rice. This is a classic Malay dish that everyone should try!

♥ RENDANG AYAM (RM5.90 each)
The must have dish during Raya! The aromatic lemongrass and spices will make anyone fell in love with it. Best eaten with FamilyMart lemang or Nasi Pulut Kuning.

♥ SAMBAL TUMIS IKAN BILIS (RM4.90 each)
Sambal tumis ikan bilis is usually served with Nasi Lemak but it can also be eaten with white rice. This sambal ikan bilis is aromatic and the taste is just on point. It does taste like mom's cooking!

♥ KUAH LODEH (RM5.50 each)
A fragrant gravy with various vegetables that is eaten with Nasi Impit. Kuah Lodeh is sometimes also served as breakfast and is one of my favourite food to eat during Raya. Adding kuah kacang into kuah lodeh makes it even better!

♥ NASI TOMATO BENTO (RM8.90 each)
A tomato based rice served with Ayam Masak Merah and Acar to complete the meal.

To be honest, I am blown away with how these meals taste like. They do taste like home-cooked food, nicely seasoned the level of spiciness is just nice.  And the price point is really affordable! Would I buy these ready-to-eat meals again? You bet I will! :) There are other food as well (the permanent range) that you can try out if you want to eat something else besides rice :

Spaghetti Bolognese & Carbonara
Nasi Briyani Ayam Masak Merah
Kimchi Gyoza
Onigiri
Dessert anyone?
