[Beauty Review] : ArtDeco - Eye Shadow Base

Assalamualaikum and hello darlings!

I'm back with another make up review and today we are going to find out about ARTDECO Eyeshadow Base! I have been trying out this product for a while and I wasn't sure whether I want to review it because personally I don't use eye primer before applying any eyeshadow. But, I figure out maybe this post will be beneficial to those who really in the hunt for an eye shadow primer, so why not? ;) Maybe in the end of the post you will find out whether I like it or not. ;) I received several make up items from SaSa when I attended the ARTDECO event a few months back and the Eyeshadow Base is one of the product included. Just a little info, ARTDECO is a company from Germany that provides a wide range of make up products to suit any women of age. Honestly I've never heard about the brand before the event and I am surprised to see they have so many products! ;)

ARTDECO Eyeshadow Base is a product that is used on your eyelids before applying eye shadows. The purpose of using an eye primer is to ensure the eye make up  does not crease and to make sure the eye make up stays longer. The purpose is also to intensify the eye shadow shade.  ARTDECO Eyeshadow Base is ARTDECOS's Best Seller product, lets see if it really lives up to my expectation! ;)

The product comes in a small plastic tub with a twistable cap. As you can see in the photo above it is super small since it weighs at 5 gram only. To me the packaging is simple and travel friendly. You can just chuck it in your bag and the cap won't come off.

The texture of the eye shadow base is soft and creamy. I would say that the texture is somewhat similar to a cream blush consistency but there is silicon feel to it. In the tub it looks like it's a champagne shade but actually when I swatched it on my hands it looks a bit creamy, beige shade. The ARTDECO Eyeshadow Base contains bisabolol to calms reddened eyelids and even out the eyelid skin tone. It also includes Vitamin E to protects and nourishes the skin of the eyes. As known, eyes is the most sensitive area on our face so extra care is needed when dealing with the eyes. Furthermore, a plus point for the product as it does not contain animal ingredients!

If you look closely in the photos, you can definitely notice the micro shimmer particles in the product. The shimmer won't effect the colour of your eye shadow so don't worry so much about getting your eye shadow too shimmery. I believe the particles help to adhere the eye shadow to the eyelid. Lets do a little test, shall we?

I have an ARTDECO duo powder eye shadows and I am using the dark purple/plum shade to test out whether the eye shadow base does what it claims to be.

As you can see the shade on the right is more intense and more pigmented when using the eye shadow base compare to the left shade.

I tried to rub off the eye shadow and the one with the eye shadow base stays on, well not totally but you can still see some of the colour is still there. Of course we do not scrub our eyeballs out but this test does show that the eye shadow base acts as glue and your eye shadow will adhere to your eyelid for a good amount of time.

I have tried many time using the ARTDECO Eyeshadow Base and so far my eye shadow does not crease and it stays all day long. But I usually have my make up on not more than 8 hours so in that duration of time, the eye make up stays strong. I don't really have oily eyelids, so may be that helps too. I really like that eye shadow base helps to intensify the shade of the eye shadow because sometimes the eye shadows you own does not have the best pigmentation. I noticed when I use the ARTDECO Eye Shadow Base, it is easier to spread out my eye shadow on top of the eye shadow base because of the creaminess texture of the base. It is easier to blend out because sometimes eye shadow can be a bit powdery and chalky so this eye shadow base is a good alternative to solve the problem. The eye shadow base has a slight fresh fragrance to it, but as you blend it out, the scent will fade out eventually. As for the price point, I think it's an affordable product because you would only need a small amount every time you want to use it, I would say only a swipe. I bet it can last so many years!

This is my first eye primer product so I can't really compare it to any other brands. I would suggest this product if you are in need of a product that could help your eye shadow stays longer. As for me I like it because it makes my eye make up more vibrant and intense. What say you, would you try this out? ^_^

  1. I have been using this one too, it works excellently! No creasing, no fading of colors, it's just awesome. Feeling so lucky to get one from Artdeco, hehe :D

  2. It looks like it contains a lot of eyeshadow base in that tiny tub. I'm up for anything that'll prevent creasing hehe. The Essense one makes my eyeshadow crease after a good 4-5 hours :s

    1. Yup u should try this one. I rarely use eye shadow base, but I have been using this a lot lately. this is a good product. Try it out and see if you like it. :)

  3. I wonder how long would it say with oily eyelids >.<

    1. You'll never know until you try it out. hehe :D but this is a great alternative for other brands such as benefit and UD.
