BEAUTY | Review : Urban Decay Naked Smoky Eyeshadow Palette

Assalamualaikum and hello.

I've been playing around with the new Urban Decay Naked Smoky eyeshadow palette for quite sometimes and I finally have the time to review it for all of you. To be honest, I was not sure whether to get it or not because I was not really that impress with the shades because I have other eyeshadow palettes that can deliver smoky eyes effect. But when I went into Sephora, I swatched them and I guess I fell in love. :D My husband, being the greatest husband ever, he bought it for me for my birthday present. Awwww thank you so much sweetheart, I really appreciate it my love! :D Anyway if you want to read my review on UD Naked 3 palette, you can READ HERE! :)

The Urban Decay Naked Smoky comprises of 12 shimmery, satin and matte shades. 9 of the shades are new and 3 shades are exclusive colours. The palette has an array of shades starting from beige, champagne, brown, taupe, grey and black which is the right kind of shade for smoky eye make up look. The palette comes with a guide of 4 different smoky eye look that can fit any occasions, be it natural smoky or more of a glamour smoky eye. The packaging is major love. I absolutely love it's packaging. I'm not sure whether is plastic or acrylic but the sturdy packaging and sleek design makes it a bad ass design. I guess the design fits nicely with the smoky themed palette because it definitely scream rock chick glam sexy smoky! *ahahaha* it's that too much of an expression? :D

The palette also comes with a dual brush, smoky smudger brush and tapered crease brush. The brushes is quite good actually. The smudger brush really does it's job in smudging the eyeshadow under my eye. It brushes out evenly and I'm happy with the result. The crease brush blends out nicely even though the brush is a bit dense.

High : Champagne with micro glitter particles. Perfect for highlights. Light shimmer finish.
Dirtysweet : Bronze with orange undertone with micro glitter particles. Light shimmer finish.
Radar : Medium brown with micro glitter particles. Light shimmer finish.
Armor : Metallic taupe with silver glitter. Major glitter fall out. Shimmery finish.
Slanted : Light grey with micro glitter particles. Satin finish.
Dagger : Deep toned grey. Satin finish.

Black Market : Deep black with micro shimmer. Satin finish.
Smolder : Deep taupe with plum/purple undertone. Satin finish.
Password : Cool taupe. Matte finish.
Whisper : Deep brown. Matte finish.
Combust : Light peach. Matte finish. Quite chalky. Great for blending in the crease.
Thirteen : Light beige. Matte finish.

The texture of the eye shadows are mostly soft and buttery but I do find that the matte shades are a bit powdery. Are they easy to blend out? Yes but maybe a bit too easy as the colours will fade of without too much blending work. One shade that has major glitter fall out is Armor, so make sure to do your eye make up first before your face base because you will have trouble removing the excess glitters. I would suggest using an eye primer to make sure the eye shadow last longer. I think this whole palette makes a great smoky and neutral looks because it has all the colours needed for that kind of look. Is it a necessary? If you have gazzilion other neutral/smoky palettes that has the basic black, brown, beige and some highlighter shades, well you might not need this palette because you can use whatever you have. The texture, shades, pigmentation are up to my liking but I personally don't think it's a must have just because I have other palettes that I can use for smoky eye make up. But if you are one of the 'Naked' collector, this might be a great addition to your collection.

I used Combust all over my eyelids, Smolder at the outer corner of my eyes, Whiskey at the crease line (to blend out the Smolder), Armor at the center of my eyelid, Smolder and Whiskey at my bottom lash lines (smudge them together).  I'd say this is is quite a versatile smoky eye makeup because it can be worn during the day and also at night. You can perk it up with falsies for a more dramatic look and add on more intense deep colour at the outer corner. I pair the look with my Make Up Forever Aqua Rouge #3 lipstick (muted purple nude). Love the combo!

Urban Decay Naked Smoky is priced at RM199 and can be purchased in Sephora Malaysia. I hope my review helps you whether to get the palette or not. I like it because I can just grab this now if I want  a smoky eye makeup. So convenient!

Thanks for reading! :)
