NARS Holiday 2014 Color Collection - Laced With Edge

Assalamualaikum and hello love. I'm back with another makeup review and for today, it's NARS baby! NARS has been one of my favourite makeup brands ever since it arrived in Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur and I am excited to share with all of you their Holiday 2014 Color Collection which is called Laced With Edge. For this year, NARS Holiday 2014 Collection is all about colours and textures with dramatic dimensions. The custom packaging is inspired by architectural designer Chris Kabatsi's digitally-rendered Nebula print which is translated into a beautiful lace design that is printed on the matte black packaging. I must say they look rather feminine, yet masculine. The design is stunning! There are several items that I am able to get my hands on, lets take a look at each one of them.

HARDWIRED LIPSTICKS (New Formula)
Price : RM90

Deadly Catch is described as a crimson red. In my book, I would describe this lipstick as a red with blue undertone. I think it is more towards a medium red berry shade. It is opaque and you can definitely build it up to get your desired pigmentation. It glides on smoothly on my lips since it is a satin finish. I will always suggest to use a lip liner if you are planning to rock a red lips. Trust me your red lips will look so much better! It is quite a long-wearing lipstick because it will stain your lips as you go on with eating and drinking. But I have no problem if I have to re-apply my lipstick, it's my favourite thing to do! :D Other two shades available for the holiday collection is Adriatic (glistening soft cream) and Femme Fleur (shimmering brick red with gold pearl).

LIPGLOSS
Price : RM85

Corsica is a shimmering pink raspberry lipgloss that is so perfect if you are planning to rock a smoky eye makeup. For me, it is a perfect rosy nude lipgloss that compliments my skin tone. I will always love nude lipgloss because it can be mixed with any lipsticks and trust me they will turn out great with any colours combination. The texture is quite similar to other NARS lip glosses formulation, it is not sticky (which is a thumbs up for me) and it does not have funky scent to it. I am not a big fan of lipgloss because most lip glosses tends to be super sticky, but this one is a keeper. Other two shades that's available in this collection is Soleil D'Orient (shimmering pink champagne) and Burning Love (bright ruby with subtle shimmer).

HARDWIRED EYESHADOW (New Formula)
Price : RM90

Opal Coast is an iridescent white shimmer eyeshadow that screams PARTY! I highly suggest this eyeshadow if you want a shimmer shade that will bring attention to your eyes! The great thing about this iridescent white eyeshadow is that you can use it on its own or you can apply it on top of any other eyeshadow shade to add instant glam to your eye makeup. It works well on top of any shades and it will give your eyes different dimensions. I also love to use this at the inner corner of my eyes as highlighter as well as under my brow bone. A total stunner! Since it is a shimmer eyeshadow, I do noticed some fall outs but that's what shimmer eyeshadow does so just use you powder brush to brush it off. It works everytime. :) Other two shades available is Canberra (shimmering lavender) and Gabon (bronzed green).

GORGEOUS!!

Now lets play around with them, shall we? ^_^

For the eye makeup, I used a bronzed cream eyeshadow all over my eyelids. Then I applied a peachy and light brown shade in my crease to create more depth. Here comes the fun part, I applied NARS Opal Coast along my upper lash line and at the centre of my eyelids. I also used Opal Coast to highlight the inner corner of my eyes and under my brow bone. I finished it off with a winged eyeliner and  mascara.

I used Deadly Catch on my lips. I love this look! Go for this look if you want to rock a red lips!

With the same eye makeup, I changed the lipstick to Corsica lipgloss. This look is sweet and natural and that NARS Opal Coast really stood out.

Again with the same eye makeup, I used both of Deadly Catch and Corsica together. This is such a pretty combination, more to a berry red lips. LOVE!

NAIL POLISH
Price : RM65

Barents Sea nail polish is described as sparkling deep blue shade. When I look at it, it does reminds me of the sea. It is a metallic blue shade with shimmer, so beautiful! I love it that NARS comes out with a blue shade because I'm getting tired seeing all burgundy, berry, red, brown nail polishes for the fall and winter season. It's time to venture into new colour direction and blue is definitely way to go. Blue goes well with everything and those who loves nail polish, you should get this shade. I don't use nail polishes that often so I can't really compare the texture with others. But what I do know that this nail polish is not goopy, not streaky and glides on well on my fingernails. The applicator is good too! It can cover my whole nail in just one stroke. *can you imagine now how small is my fingernails?* The other 2 shades available are Algonquin (sparkling lilac) and Sherwood (shimmering violet rose).

Yes my fingernails are small, tiny. They might look like your nieces/nephews/kids' fingernails. And please excuse my nail painting skill. FAILED!! >.<
Reminds me of the waves, deep blue sea.....

There's also a blush named Almeria (tan rose) which is retail at RM120. :) Click HERE for details.

  5. Wow I love the fact that you went with pretty much the classic colours in terms of lipstick and the combination looks so gorgeous! I gotta say though when you first showed the Opal Coast eye shadow I was a bit skeptical as to how it would work for medium skin tone, but the fact that you use it as a finishing touch to your cream shadow, the finish is stunning! :) Can't wait to experiment with white eye shadows now! Thanks for the post xx. The nail polish colour is also so unique!

    1. hi dear! thanks for stopping by. Yup indeed, opal coast is gorgeous. Seriously it's the only white eyeshadow you need that you can use as highlighter. And of course to add extra pop to your eyes. I absolutely love it. You should check out the lipstick as well, it's a beautiful red. A friend of mine bought it after seeing me wearing it. HAHA if you love nail polish, do check it out too, ok? :)
