BEAUTY | Review : Maybelline Clean Express Miracle Water VS Biore Perfect Cleansing Water

Assalamaulaikum and hello!

Today I am going to share with all of you two makeup remover that I am currently using. Both of them are the cleansing water type and I got to admit, I am pretty late to the cleansing water scene. Cleansing water make up remover is water-based make up remover that promised to removes makeup and keep the skin hydrated. It is suitable especially those with sensitive skin because it is gentle on the skin.  I actually wanted to try Bioderma when I found out that it is available in Guardian but, I could not justify myself paying that much for a small bottle. I was using the Sephora Express Cleansing Wipes (which I love) before this and I always forget to buy a new pack so I decided to go to the drugstore and get my hands on Biore Perfect Cleansing Water. After a month or so of using it, I thought I want to buy another drugstore brand and compare both of them. So yesterday I went to Guardian and bought a bottle of Maybelline Clean Express Miracle Water. Care to find out how both of these fares? Keep on reading then. :)

As for both review, I used the same makeup products and same amount on my face to get a fair result.  I used :

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
Make Up For Ever HD Foundation
MAC Prep n Prime Peach Lustre
Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer
MAC Studio Finish Concealer
Chanel Translucent Loose Powder
Essence Eye Brow Gel
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner
Make Up For Ever Aqua Smoky Extravagant (Waterproof)
NARS Laguna Bronzer
Benefit High Beam
MAC Whirl Matte Lipstick

  MAYBELLINE CLEAN EXPRESS MIRACLE WATER
Volume : 120ml
Price : RM19.90*  *I check the pricing via Guardian online (I bought it at RM16.78)

Okay so I was searching on a few websites to find out the ingredients but I can't find any except the ingredients with scientific names. What I mean is that I want to know whether it has any special ingredients such as tree tea oil ke, green tea extract ke, but I couldn't find it. If you do know, hit me in the comment box! Anyway, what I know is that this cleansing water contains NO fragrance, NO alcohol and oil-free. This makeup remover claims to remove light makeup, trapped dirts and dust. There is no need to double cleanse as it cleanse out all impurities. It also freshen up the skin as it acts as a toner. Suitable for sensitive skin.

Maybelline Clean Express Miracle Water is a non-fragrant water which is perfect for my liking. As you can see above, I need 7 cotton pads to really get rid off all of my makeup. The first and second cotton pads mainly removed my foundation, concealer, bronzer, eyeshadow, etc. My waterproof mascara and eyeliner is finally removed by the 5th cotton pad. At 7th cotton pad, my face is free of makeup. I like that this cleansing water does not irritate my skin or makes my skin red. It does feel a bit refreshing and hydrating but I still need to double cleanse because I feel uncomfortable not washing my face after removing my make up. Furthermore, my face feel a bit sticky afterwards. It is hard, I repeat, hard to remove waterproof mascara and eyeliner (maybe because they have another product to remove eye makeup. hehe). I even lost a few lashes.*RIP* And I have mascara/eyelier smudges when I wake up the next day. I prefer this bottle packaging by the way, more sleek.

  BIORE PERFECT CLEANSING WATER
Volume : 90ml
Price : RM16.86(NOW on sale at Guardian online : RM13.48*I check the pricing via Guardian online

Biore Perfect Cleansing Water is formulated with Japan's Natural Mineral Water. It contains anti-bacterial properties that helps to minimize pimples break out, enriched with soluble collagen and White Tea extract for hydration. It has no oil and no alcohol. This cleansing water has a refreshing floral fragrance which bothers me, but I couldn't find any other variants for this size so I had to settle with this. This cleansing water promised to effectively remove all traces of makeup so I bet this would be perfect for a full face makeup.

I don't really fancy the scent but as I continue using it, I kinda get used to it. But still, I prefer non-fragrant makeup remover. I also need 7 cotton pads to get rid of everything on my face. I think this cleansing water removes waterproof mascara and eyeliner better than the Maybelline because the black residue is gone by the second cotton pad. It removes makeup pretty good but I this water cleanser makes my skin red a bit sting-y and maybe a bit itchy, but that only last about a minute. This cleansing water makes my skin sticky so I wash my face afterwards to remove that tacky feeling. The packaging is alright, a standard design.

Left : Maybelline Clean Express Miracle Water
Right : Biore Perfect Cleansing Water

In my personal opinion, both of these cleansing water is on the same level. One does a better job in removing makeup, waterproof makeup. Another one is gentle on the skin and does not irritate my skin. I have to use 7 cotton pads to remove my go-to makeup look for both cleansing water to completely remove everything. Price wise is pretty good considering Maybelline is RM19.90 for 120ml and Biore is RM16.90 for 90ml.

If I really need to choose, I would go for Biore Perfect Cleansing Water simply because it removes makeup and waterproof makeup better than the Maybelline Clean Express Miracle Water. If you have sensitive skin, check out the Maybelline cleansing water because it is more gentle and won't irritate your skin. As an overall take on cleansing water, I think it's a lot of work! 7 cotton pads? I think it took me about 10-15 minute just to remove my makeup! I definitely prefer using makeup remover wipes because it save so much time. I will buy my Sephora Express Cleansing Wipes and review it for you girls once I get my hands on it.

I hope this review is helpful, and girls, remember that removing your makeup before going to bed is crucial. You don't want to wake up with clogged pores, zits and other skin problems, am I right?;)

Thanks for reading!

Till then,

  2. Assalamualaikum Sabrina, what a nice comparison... So far i've never tried any of this two. I've been loving Bifesta makeup removal wipes and also the makeup remover that comes in a bottle. I don't normally use waterproof products except for eyeliner, and I find them effective in removing and gentle to the skin as well. Another one would be the Garnier Micellar Water but sadly it's not available in Malaysia.. I got it from a beauty swap and I find that it works well in removing makeup as well.

  5. Tak pernah try yang maybellline punya but I like to use Biore cleansing water than oil. Kalau guna cleansing oil mesti akan cuci muka jugak sebab rasa macam tak yakin je. Like to use makeup wipes also sebab senang dan cepat.
